A note on breathwork: There are many ways to “do” breathwork. Just as there are many asanas of yoga, there are many ways of breathing and each practitioner has their own style of teaching.

The breathwork Amanda leads focuses on gentleness and curiosity. She invites you to soften. She invites you to observe body sensations and stay with your breath. She invites you to trust your intuition and the voice of your own needs.

We begin slowly and you are welcome to stay slow and gentle the entire time (no need to push). In our experience, harder, faster, or more vigorous breathing does not mean you’ll have a better or more transformative session. There is power in the gentleness of slowing down. Amanda invites you to try both on.

A note on covering the eyes during breathwork and movement/dance: Covering the eyes is encouraged to stay inward. We tend to look outward for approval, for curiosity, for safety, for connection. This is a chance to really truly be in your own process without the external visual field so present. If closing the eyes feels best for you, that is welcome. In any case, having eyes closed or covered can be vulnerable for some. That said, please do what feels best for you as it is always our intention to create a space in which participants feel comfortable to make their own decisions.
